Welcome to the newly revamped Kai Bradbury Central, where we have just updated the site with a brand new theme, Creating Art [V2] made by the amazing Gemma over at Gratrix Designs. Of course with the new theme, we have a TON of new content and updates to go along with the beautiful new theme which I’ve listed all the changes below!

Page Changes

Of course with the new theme, I figured it was time to redo all the pages to make the site look completely new as we celebrate being online for 6 months already, with doing nothing but supporting Kai, who has been supportive of us since the very first day!

  • Multimedia: was tweaked slightly to look more organized, although it virtually remained unchanged.
  • Online: reorganized completely and added several new pages, updated the old pages and cleaned it up overall.
  • Career: With Kai’s career growing with each new month that passes, we re-organized the page completely instead of having everything on one page it now shows a more in-depth look and each career page (with all the info on it) was updated to be even more in-depth.
  • Kai Bradbury: Complete overhaul done on the page, added a longer biography (including career highlights), updated the facts, added more statistics, added even more pages (information/support) which dives deeper into information on Kai and the many ways you can support him.
  • Press Archive: *NEW CONTENT ALL TOGETHER* The press archive will continuously be worked on but it will hold all of Kai’s interviews (video/magazine/online articles, etc) in one place from the start of his career to now.

Other Changes

This just highlights other minor changes, that doesn’t affect anything overall.

You can read the press release below featuring Motherland’s renewal.

Lyne Renee Upped to Series Regular

“Motherland: Fort Salem,” Freeform’s fierce genre thriller, has been picked up for a second season and Lyne Renee (General Alder) has been upped to series regular. The series is set in an alternate, present-day America where witches ended their persecution over 300 years ago by cutting a deal with the U.S. government to fight for their country with supernatural tactics and weapons. The series stars Taylor Hickson, Jessica Sutton, Ashley Nicole Williams, Amalia Holm, Demetria McKinney and Lyne Renee. “Motherland: Fort Salem” is written and created by Eliot Laurence, with Laurence, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Kevin Messick as executive producers. Steven Adelson, Erin Maher, Kay Reindl and Bryan Q. Miller will also serve as executive producers on the series.

“I could not be more grateful for the chance to keep exploring the world of ‘Motherland: Fort Salem,’” said Laurence. “Freeform has been such a fabulous home for us through the development process, production, post and marketing. I’m also blown away by the love we’ve gotten from our fans, whose excitement and passion played a massive part in this renewal. Thank you, witches!”

Kai is on a role with interviews as of late as he tackles another interview discussing his latest role as Gerit Buttonwood in Motherland: Fort Salem. You can read the entire interview below.

Actor Kai Bradbury is a man on a mission. Having grown up surrounded by the arts, Kai credits his exposure to different mediums for helping him develop his voice as an individual and as a creative. And as Hollywood makes inroads towards greater representation, Kai hopes to do his part by paving the way for the next generation of up-and-comers of mixed race or Asian descent with projects like Motherland: Fort Salem.

Set in an alternate America where witches ended their persecution three hundred years ago by cutting an agreement to fight for their government, Motherland: Fort Salem follows three recruits who go from basic training in combat magic to early deployment. Kai’s character, Gerit Buttonwood, is the “object of desire” for one of those recruits. It’s a role that means not only a great deal to Kai but also to a community who wants to see themselves properly represented on screen.

Pop-Culturalist caught up with this rising star to chat about all things Motherland: Fort Salem.

Kai is on a roll with the interviews as his interview rounds continue with TVGoodness’ interview! You can read the full excerpt below to know more! He also talks about his previous projects.

While women awesomely take front and center on Motherland, there are characters of the male persuasion present. One of these guys is Gerit, played by Canadian Kai Bradbury

This season Gerit and Tally quickly sparked a connection that beautifully came to life in episode four at the celebration known as Beltane. Then real life intruded in a big way. Tally found out Gerit’s engaged — it’s an arranged situation — but this was definitely a blow. However, the two have reunited despite the less-than-ideal circumstances. Who knows how long they can keep their reconnected relationship on the down low.

TV Goodness recently sent a few questions over to Bradbury, who answered via email. The Japanese and Scottish actor talks about Motherland, his character’s relationship with Tally, and he gives us the rundown of some of his most significant professional experiences to date.

Kai recently spoke to TV Series Hub about his role on Motherland: Fort Salem and his career. You can read the full article below under the “Read More” tab.

Kai Bradbury is an up and coming actor who can be seen in the new Freeform series “Motherland: Fort Salem” (March 18, 2020). He portrays ‘Gerrit,’ a male witch who comes to Fort Salem and strikes up a whirlwind relationship with one of the lead witches (Jessica Sutton) in the hour-long drama series. The show reimagines history where witches ended their persecution 300 years ago by cutting a deal with a burgeoning U.S. government to fight for their country as powerful soldiers. “Motherland: Fort Salem” is also available for streaming on Hulu.

Kai kicked off his career in Amazon’s “The Man in the High Castle”, where he portrays a Kempeitai officer (Japanese police during WWII). He went on to play ‘Glenn Stevens,’ the college best friend of the Menendez brothers in Lifetime’s “Menendez: Blood Brothers” and also can be seen in TLC’s “Untold Stories of the ER.”

Then came Netflix’s “Altered Carbon” with Joel Kinnaman (“Suicide Squad”) where he plays ‘Tadao,’ a 300-year-old businessman inside of a younger man’s body.

Kai is also seen in The CW’s “Supernatural” as well as Amazon’s “The Boys” playing the little brother of Karen Fukuhara’s (“Suicide Squad”) character. He takes pride in being half Japanese and was honored to be a part of AMC’s “The Terror: Infamy” which follows the story of the Japanese-American internment during WWII with a supernatural horror twist on real-life events. Being able to work with Japanese actors from all over the world along with Japanese directors, designers, and camera operators, he portrays ‘Nick Okada,’ an internee in a prisoner-of-war camp in North Dakota. Throughout the show, he becomes the target of ‘Yamato-san’ (George Takei) when he suspects something is not quite right with ‘Nick.’ Most recently Kai starred in the CBC Gem Canada mini-series “Warigami” alongside iconic Canadian actor Hiro Kanagawa (Amazon’s “The Man in the High Castle”). The show aired stateside on The CW.

Kai Bradbury is the proud son of a Japanese mother and Scottish father, combined with the Venezuelan family as well, resulting in a real-life “Modern Family” upbringing. Kai (meaning Ocean in Japanese) grew up surrounded by the arts (painters, architects, jewelers, floral designers, you name it) so naturally dove into art classes, photography, and sculpting as a kid. He discovered acting at 14 in high school, where he was enrolled in a French immersion program. He has done the Vancouver and Edinburgh (Scotland) International Fringe Festivals and has been in over a dozen plays and musicals in Vancouver- including Rent, Oliver! and West Side Story. He attended Capilano University’s Musical Theater Program in Vancouver, BC. It was there where he met his acting agent, and the rest is history.

Outside of acting, Kai loves to paint and draw, culture and language, food and cooking, photography, singing, dancing, and wants to one day be in a musical on Broadway or at the Hollywood Bowl. He speaks Japanese, French, and English. Dedicated to anything he takes on, Kai has also speed skated competitively and took music and violin lessons for 10 years. He now plays the guitar and ukulele.
